The increasing demand for wireless communications has led several wireless companies—including Sprint, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile—to consider installation of small cell wireless poles throughout Lone Tree.
Since the Colorado legislature passed a law in 2017 requiring municipalities to accommodate these poles in public rights of way, including in residential neighborhoods, it’s important to note that the City of Lone Tree cannot prohibit these installations. However, the City has worked with many of the companies to design poles that will reduce their visual impact. Depending on its location, a new wireless facility may resemble a flag pole or street light, or it may be attached to an existing street light or traffic signal.
